World school students will compete in SAF 2023 - International STEAM Azerbaijan Festival

In our republic, important work is being done in the continuous development of science and education, in the application of innovations in these fields, in revealing the modern skills and technical knowledge of students, in realizing new ideas of the young generation, and successful reforms are being implemented. The improvement of human capital for the formation of an innovative economic environment, which is the main component of the "Socio-economic development strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2022-2026", approved by the order of President Ilham Aliyev, and the training of qualified personnel who are competitive in the labor market are priority directions.

Taking into account that the integration of our education into the globalized world is a priority area, the implementation of the "STEAM Azerbaijan" project has been started in our country since the 2019-2020 academic year with the initiative of First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva and the support of the Ministry of Science and Education.

As we know, the STEAM education method is based on the idea of teaching 5 main subjects such as Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics in a joint and integrated manner. The main goal of the STEAM project is to develop 21st century skills - creativity, critical thinking, cooperation in students studying in general education schools of the Republic of Azerbaijan, to show students the application of scientific and technical knowledge in everyday life through practical exercises, to teach them engineering skills, to use various programming languages, and modern ICT. to improve their ability to use their equipment.

With the support of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, SAF 2023 - International STEAM Azerbaijan Festival will be held for the third time in the Baku Expo Center from December 4 to December 8, 2023.

According to the information given to our newspaper by Tarana Ibrahimli, head of the Innovative Education Department of the STEAM Innovation Center, the STEAM project currently covers 400 general education schools and 180,000 students across the country, and 25 STEAM Centers are operating. T. İbrahimli noted that unlike the high school curriculum, through the innovative curriculum within the STEAM project, students are taught robotics, modeling, coding, various directions of engineering, etc. knowledge on modules is taught.

It was reported that "Robokids", "Engineers of Future", "First LEGO League Explore", "VidX", "First LEGO League Challenge", "VEX Robotix Competition" will be organized at the international level in "SAF 2023". " - "VEX Robotics Competition", "Innovative Exhibition" - "Innovative Exhibition", "Deep Dive" - "Underwater Drones/Ship", "Hackathon", "VEX IQ Competition" - "VEX IQ Competition", "Mechatronics" - A total of 12 races, 15 age categories, "Mechatronics", "Wings and Wheels", "FlyTech", "Boat Racing" - "Ship competition", 15 age categories, as well as 1 innovative category will be organized in the format of a project exhibition. Tarana Ibrahimli noted that through the "STEAM Time" program broadcast on Education TV, videos are regularly prepared by categories and viewers are given detailed information on this topic.
